Proud to be a Dragon : met dat gevoel keerde ik terug uit Bloemendaal.

Tot op de laatste seconde hebben onze jongens zich gegeven. De achtste- en kwartfinale waren telkens wedstrijden op het scherp van de snee : er is weinig verschil tussen de Europese top en onze 'gasten' uit Brasschaat (zie wedstrijdvideo op ehlhockey.tv). En het resultaat hangt af van details. Tegen Rott-Weiss waren wij in het voordeel, tegen Reading tikte de klok ons er ongenadig uit ook al hadden we nog verlengingen uit de brand kunnen slepen.

Dit smaakt naar meer ! Maar ook hier moet er nog flink gewerkt worden : het eerste EHL-ticket is nog niet binnen door de overwinning vandaag van Racing op Leopold.

Met dank aan onze grote schare supporters : wij waren veruit de beste '12e man'.

Hello all Dragons supporters

Could I on behalf of the Dragons Heren 1 team thank you all for your support during our EHL campaign. You were all great supporters and provided the team with energy and assisted us greatly in the competition. I know all the players appreciated your support and while we are disappointed at today result, we know as a team, we have made an outstanding contribution for the club, Belgian and European hockey.  It is not an overstatement to say that we have made our mark on the EHL both on the field and with our brilliant supporters off the field as well, many people are talking about "Dragons".

To everybody, thank you so much.

Stephen Butler omschrijft het zo : Firstly, I want to say Thanks for a great weekend to you all, it is a tournament I/we will never forget. When I look back, I am bitterly disappointed as we all are but am also immensely proud to be involved in such an amazing tournament with such a nice team and with such great club support.
This is the reason why we love hockey and sport...
I think if we had have been told before the tournament begun that we would beat UHC in our pool and then go onto knock out Rot-Weiss in the ko 16 and then get knocked out by a shoot out in the ko 8 by the slightest of margins we would have all said that was a decent run in our first ehl!
I am happy also to see so much disappointment when we loose, it shows we care and love what we do and it also shows we have very high standards and aspirations.
We are amongst the top 8 teams in Europe and that is a fact!
We need to now move on from this experience, learn from it and focus on the most important goal of this season. Getting back into the EHL for next season and becoming champion of Belgium.

Wij ontvingen al verschillende felicitaties, die van Claire Monseu (is Belgische vertegenwoordiger in de EHL) vat alles goed samen : 'proficiat met Uw brilliant parcours in de EHL en de prachtige resultaten van het weekend. U hebt laten zien dat Dragons als een grote Europese club mag worden beschouwd. Spijtig van die kleine fractie van een seconde. Bravo voor spelers en verantwoordelijken.'
